LEGO Minifigures Online is an MMOG developed by Funcom based on the Lego Minifigures theme. Closed Beta began in late 2013, and ended in June 2014 with the start of Open Beta. The game had the official launch in October, 2014. It is available to play in web browsers on Windows and Macintosh platforms, and Steam on Windows. It is currently in Beta on tablets (iOS, Android).
Story[]
While playing LEGO Minifigures Online, the player will encounter a cast of memorable characters who will all enlist the players support. Zeus sends you to the Underworld to defeat the Hades, the Futuron Commander needs your help in the battle against the aliens, and in Medieval World the poor king's crown has been stolen! And that's just the tip of the iceberg!
Gameplay[]
LEGO Minifigures Online lets players control of a variety of minifigures, each with unique abilities. If a player purchases a physical minifigure for Series 12 or 13, the packet will also contain a code that unlocks the minifigure for play in-game. The gameplay focuses on finding collectibles, smashing objects, and fighting enemies.
LEGO Minifigures Online was first announced on June 6, 2012, in a press release published on Funcom's website. Further updates on the game's development came in the form of quarterly development reports, gradually revealing more information on the gameplay and structure of the game.
On August 16, 2013, the homepage of Funcom's website was replaced with a countdown clock, and it was revealed that the game would be shown at GamesCom 2013, with a full reveal on August 29th. The background image of the countdown clock changed with each day, revealing more playable minifigures in the game.
